Carol Cunningham Stone

1993 biography

The first few years following  graduation were devoted to education.  My studies concentrated on mathematics and statistics (B.S. Centenary College).  After college, I worked for a few years, taking some business courses at the same time.  Then I met Jim and we married in 1970.

For the first six plus years of our marriage, Jim and I traveled wherever this job as a start-up engineer took us.  His assignments, lasting four to six months, were located all over the world.  We enjoyed a diversity of cultures and scenery from Brazil to South America to England to South Korea.  We also spent a "miserable" four months on the island of St. Croix in the Caribbean.

We returned to New Orleans in 1976, found jobs locally, and settled near Audubon Park.  I have been employed by the Entergy Corporation for nearly seventeen years and have been working at their LP&L subsidiary for the past year and a half.  Jim is employed by the state Department of Environmental Quality.

Outside of work, I have dabbled in various fiber arts, such as weaving, spinning, knitting, and other forms of needlework.  Living near the park, I enjoy walking, running, and bicycling among the oak trees.  Lately, Jim and I have been going swimming at Loyola's Recreation Club indoor pool.  Jim swims, I sort of paddle around.  Our travel these days has been limited to short trips to visit family and friends.
